Renting an allotment...

Cultivating an allotment requires ongoing commitment, but is a hugely rewarding experience. As well as enjoying open air and gentle exercise, there is nothing like the taste of fresh fruit and vegetables. And for those who wish, there is plenty of free advice and friendly chat available from other plotholders.

Renting an allotment on our sites currently costs £22 per year (£20 for pensioners) which is for a standard plot size of around 10 rods, 300 square yards or 250 square metres. Sometimes half plots are also available which currently cost £12 (£11 for pensioners). If you take on an allotment that is completely overgrown, you may only need to pay £3 for the first year. Both sites are fenced and accessed by a key-operated padlock which we provide to plotholders in return for a £2 non-refundable deposit. Although we can't promise anything, but there have been very few instances of vanadalism in recent years. Members receive a free Welcome pack and are provided with Terms and Conditions which they need to agree and sign - an example of these can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
